Donald Trump‘s inauguration as the 47th US president in a ceremony at Washington DC today (20 January).
Join us as Donald Trump takes the oath of office and steps into history as the 47th President of the United States, becoming the first leader since Grover Cleveland to serve non-consecutive terms in the White House.
Set against the backdrop of Washington DC’s punishing sub-zero temperatures, the ceremony will be held indoors for the first time since Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985.
In his inaugural address, Trump will declare the dawn of a “thrilling new era” for America, promising sweeping change and bold leadership.
“I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success,” he is set to proclaim. “A tide of change is sweeping the country.”
On day one, the president-elect has plans in place to sign more than 200 executive orders – a record – covering everything from border security and energy.
As Antonio Gramsci famously said, “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”
Witness history in the making.
